In this delightful day retreat, you will uncover the beautiful art of free motion embroidery. We will embark on a journey, beginning with the creation of simple shapes with our threads, gradually blossoming into exquisite embroidered butterflies that can transform into brooches, magnets, or charms. We shall felt their bodies and embellish the wings with coloured beads. Even those new to this craft will weave magic under Janie's careful, step-by-step guidance, yielding breathtaking results.
Students will need to bring their own Sewing Machine. You do not need a fancy sewing machine, we will only be using straight and zigzag stitches but please insure your machine is in good working order and that you have a darning foot and the ability to drop the feed dogs. I advise having spare needles and I like to use machine embroifery needles by Schmetz .
Country House Craft Studio takes great pride in delivering a friendly and relaxed high-quality experience. You will leave with wonderful memories and new crafty friends.
We limit spaces to between 5-10 people allowing us to deliver a personalised experience where everyone gets the tutoring and guidance they require.

Kaleidoscope of Butterflies in Free motion Embroidery
The Day Retreat will be held on 19th July 2025 and will be packed full of fun and creative friendships.
The retreat will be held at Country House Craft Studio, Hurds Hill, Langport, Somerset, TA10 0ND.
The day will run from 10am-5pm with lunch and refreshment breaks.
Your package will include Tuition, lunch, refreshments all required materials, use of neccasary tools in addition to your own sewing machine. Please check with Janie before booking if you have any quiries about your machine's suitability.
Exclusive use of the Country House is included in the price.
The house has an eclectic feel that will get your imagination flowing.
The retreat has disabled access, if you require any specific support, please inform us before booking.
Please inform us with a note on your order if you have any dietary requirements to ensure we have enough choice to suit everybody’s needs.
Your booking is secured with deposit or full payment, refunds can not be garanteed unless Janie's Originals or Hurds Hill need to cancel the event for unforseen circumstances. If you pay a deposit full payment will be requested via invoice to be cleared by July 5th.
